Dorena Becker

Jan Cleveland and I would like to welcome you and your child to the ACP MWF Pre-K class. We are excited to be working together again this year and have a lot of fun things planned for your children. Pre-K is a great place for your children to develop friendships, learn more about this beautiful world God has created for us, and to have just plain, good ol’ fashioned FUN!! Our day will be filled with circle time, music, games, art, indoor and outdoor play, science, language experiences, cooking and more FUN than can be imagined. When you look in our classroom you might think we’re just involved in “kid’s play” but we are really learning essential skills that will help your child grow and develop. Play is a child’s work!!! Through all of our activities your child will be learning to make the transition to kindergarten an easy one by working on the following skills:

* Small and Large Motor Development – eye/hand coordination, cutting, drawing, stringing, skipping, hopping and riding.

* Language Development (key component for pre-reading and reading skills) – stories, dramatizations, sharing time, pretend play, music and fingerplays.

* Pre-Reading and Pre-Math – reading a variety of books every day, making class and individual books, letter and number recognition, matching, sorting, patterning and classification.

* Social Skills – learning to share, using our words, playing and working cooperatively. There is so much to experience when you are 4 and 5 years old.

I enjoy working with children and love being at ACP. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you and your children. Thanks for sharing your treasures. Watch them grow through the year!
