Welcome to the 2/3 First Step class. My name is Marilee Gossard and I will be teaching your child. I have been a Playschool teacher and an aide at ACP since 1991.
During our day in 2/3 First Step, your child and I will focus on our interaction with each other. We will do finger plays, songs and creative play, as well as, read stories and create art projects. We will learn our prayers, about colors and our world together in a fun and loving environment. Remember, play is your child’s work.
For many children, this will be their first experience without their mom and dad. Each child reacts to the separation differently. Please feel free to stay for as long as you need to help your child feel comfortable.
PLEASE LABEL ALL OF YOUR CHILD’S BELONGINGS (coats, sweaters, lunch boxes, diaper bags, etc.). A complete change of clothing (socks, too) should be sent as well as diaper supplies.
Class begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 12:00 PM each day. We follow our preschool day with the extended day option from 12:00 to 1:30 PM. If you choose to have your child stay for extended day, please send a nutritious lunch – finger foods work well. You can add extended day at any time during the year. During extended day we have a brief quiet rest time and more opportunity for indoor and outdoor play.
Please be prompt at both the start of the day and at pick-up time. By the end of the day your child may be exhausted and they may get anxious if you are late.
Illness – if your child is not feeling well and cannot fully participate in school activities, it is best to keep them at home.
I hope our year together will be a happy and rewarding time in all our lives.
